Obituary of Isabel Margaret SHORT
Isabel "Margaret" Short (nee South) passed away peacefully on September 28th at the Carewest Hospice in Calgary, AB with her daughters, Donna and Jackie, and her granddaughter Brianna by her side.
Margaret was born on March 12, 1922, the 6th of 8 children, to parents Mabel and James South in what she called a "chicken coop" located in Stranraer, SK. Margaret also lived in Regina, SK before moving to Calgary, AB for the majority of her years where her career was in accounts receivable until her retirement in 1989.
Margaret was the beloved wife of Don and the loving mother to son Jim (Manny Mates) who have both predeceased her. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings and their spouses.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Donna (Udo) Errelat and Jackie Short (Wally O'Bryan); and daughter-in-law Irene Short. Margaret will forever be in the hearts of her grandchildren Jonas and Jennifer Short and Brianna Errelat (Miguel Diaz Infante Velasco); she will always be loved and remembered by her great-granddaughter Isabelle Short as well. Margaret was also a second mother to Bobby Engelman and Gayle Wrigley; and "Pa" to Thalia and her children Hannah and Riley, Cody and his children Mackenna and Kelton and to Alix and her son Sam. Margaret is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Margaret's niece Bernice for her love and support during the last weeks of her life.
Margaret was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with all. Many summers were spent making road trips to Regina Beach and Regina but not before she finished the dusting while everyone waited in the car. She was also very fond of the VLT's and her Regina trips were not complete until she got to visit the casino. And for everyone who lived in and visited Calgary, supper was always a highlight because of her famous roast beef dinners with Yorkshire puddings.
A life well lived and we will hold you in our hearts forever and miss you dearly.
There will be no service as per her request. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
