Obituary of Frances Ruth YOUNG

Ruth Young, beloved wife of the late Earl Young of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the age of 94 years.
Ruth was born June 7, 1921 in Melville, Sask. Following graduation from a business course she was employed in the office at Swift Canadian Co. Ruth was a gracious homemaker and a loving stay at home mother. Her children were the pride and joy of her life. She was a willing helper and often worked in the family business. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her house plants that were always blooming and growing their best year round. In her younger years she enjoyed outdoor activities and especially enjoyed painting and sketching and also had a good voice and sang in the United Church Choir for a number of years. She served as president of the United Church U.C.W. and was a Rotary Ann. Ruth dearly loved her family and cherished being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. She was gentle, kind, loving and thoughtful and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Gloria Young; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Mike Finnerty; grandsons, Kevin (Linda) Finnerty and Darryl Finnerty (Emily Bacon); great-grandson, Tyson Finnerty as well as extended family members.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl on September 28, 2015; parents, George and Hannah McDonald; brothers, Russell, Allan and Leslie McDonald.
A Memorial Service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, January 2 , 2016 at1:00 p.m. Please forward condolences through www.calgarycrematorium.com
