Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Elsie “Christie” Buckboro, beloved wife of Kel Buckboro of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Christie was born and raised in Winnipeg, relocating to Alberta with her husband, Kel, and young daughter, Sandi, where Kel worked in the burgeoning oil patch. Three more children were born (Dallas, Deane and Sallee) and the family put down roots in Capitol Hill in northwest Calgary. She loved her adopted hometown, cheering on “The Stamps”, baking, knitting, growing vegetables in her garden, and playing canasta with her neighbours. Christie and Kel retired to the Okanagan in 1985, where they continued to be involved in the Naval Veterans Association and enjoyed travelling with friends. They returned to Calgary and their growing family in 2004. Christie will be remembered for her quiet strength, sense of humour, and devotion to her loved ones. Christie is survived by her adoring husband of 68 years, Kel Buckboro; daughters Sandi (John) Magnusson, Dallas (Ken) Loschuk, and Sallee (Boyd) Williams; son Deane Buckboro, all of Calgary; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Christie was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Elsie Christie, brother Sam, and sister Sadie. A Memorial Service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
