Obituary of Mary HULBERT
Mary, beloved wife of Ted Hulbert of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in her 95th year.
Mary moved to Calgary in her early twenties; she worked in the Income Tax department and was notably a devoted housewife into her sixties. Throughout Mary’s life, volunteering had been important, working with Calgary Reads to help young children develop reading skills, and also helping with the Telephone Pioneers Association. Her dedication was rewarded when she received a 35 year service award for volunteer work with Sarcee Hospital. She was a leader in the United Church Women’s group and CGIT, remaining in contact with her “girls” for over 50 years. Mary had many joys in life, such as being a big fan of the Calgary Stampeders. She loved going to see the games, travelling the world, and always made time for reading.
Mary leaves her memory to be cherished by her children Marnie (Rod) Barlow of Ontario and Jane (Dave) Louie of Calgary. She will be remembered by her grandchildren Colleen Barlow (Bruce Moore) and Richard Barlow of Ontario; great-grandchild Tyson Camelford of Ontario. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Ted and her parents John and Elizabeth Johnston; siblings Florence, Helen and Margaret; nephews Del and Jack Howden, and niece Libby Corich.
Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
