Obituary of Douglas HEIM

Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beloved brother, uncle, and friend left his body peacefully at his home in Calgary on Saturday, September 1, 2012 after a two year illness. Present to honour and cherish Doug’s indomitable will and spirit are his sisters Ginger Cunes (Bill), Fran Heim, Sandy Coghlan (Sean) and Corinne Heim (Hal); his beloved nieces and nephews: Erin Mossop (Jonathan), Annabel and Elliot; Jill Cunes (Sanjay), Saumya and Salil; Polly Moody (Bryan); Dana Jans (Tyler); Ryan Coghlan (Leslie), Lindsay Coghlan, and Alex Bayko; and dear family friend Linda Zaferis. Doug was predeceased by his parents Doreen and Frank Heim and nephew Evan Bayko. Doug was a diamond in the rough waiting to be cut and polished. His life, after an uphill struggle took an abrupt shift ten years ago awakening the courage and strength he needed to overcome adversity. In death he was our teacher; clearheaded, focused and fearless. Our greatest joy was in witnessing his final exit: the diamond that in death radiated life. The Self is invisible, beyond all thought and beyond all change; knowing this you shall not grieve. The Illuminated Man - Eknath Easwaran
