Obituary of Sarah GOGO

Please share a memory of Sarah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sarah passed away peacefully after a long journey with dementia at the age of 96 years. She was the youngest child born to James and Elizabeth (Cavanaugh) Kanarie in Capstick, Cape Breton, NS. Sarah was a teacher, and as a young woman taught grades one to eleven in one room schoolhouses in various counties of NS. These were among the most memorable and happy times of her life. She eventually moved to Montreal where she would meet her husband Douglas. She was employed by the Royal Bank in Montreal for several years. Sarah and Doug moved west in 1954 and made Calgary their home. While Sarah may have left Cape Breton, it never left her and she was ever proud of her Celtic roots. Sarah is survived by her daughter Linda (Rick) Hack and beloved granddaughter Julia. She was predeceased by her husband in 2000, and her siblings Margaret, Mary, Julia, Alex, Joe and Jimmy. A private family service will be held at a later date. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Salvation Army, Suite 200, 1731 – 29 Street S.W., Calgary, AB T3C 1M6 Telephone: (403) 410-1111, www.salvationarmy.org. Many thanks to the staff of Carewest George Boyack for their care and support of Sarah. May the road rise up to meet you May the wind always be at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face And the rains fall soft upon your fields Until we meet again May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
