Obituary of Joyce PETERSEN

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce passed away at the age of 90 years. She will be dearly missed by her sister Muriel Rousseau and her family all of Red Deer AB, and her brother’s daughter Pauline. In 1945 she met and married the love of her life, Albert “Al” Nesbitt, a WWII veteran. Al was a grain elevator agent and together they made their homes in Nanton, Three Hills, Cayley and eventually Calgary. Joy was a remarkable seamstress, loved her garden, golfing and spending time at the track. She was also a positive influence for the many young people she welcomed into her life. Joy was sadly predeceased by her first husband Albert Nesbitt as well as her second husband Emil Petersen and her brother Harold Thompson. If desired donations in Joy’s memory may be made to the Calgary Poppy Fund, Suite 1, 4539 – 6 Street NE Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6. Her family would like to thank her long time friend Barbara Smith and the staff of Hillcrest Extended Care for the excellent care received by Joy in the last years of her life.
