Obituary of Charles GOODJOHN

Charles (Chas) beloved companion of the late Roberta Baxter of Calgary passed away on February 6, 2013 at age 82. Charlie worked for the city assessment department for nearly 35 years retiring in 1984. Then he and Betty travelled abroad, visiting relatives in England, spending time in Hawaii, travelling to Vegas for slot machine tournaments and taking cruises to many exotic places. In Calgary, he regularly played crib at the Legion and supported the Women`s Auxiliary through their meat draws. Charlie loved his bingo and the Thorncliffe Community Centre was like a second home to him. Charlie looked forward to seeing his many friends each week through these social gatherings. He had an anecdote for each of them and held them all dearly in his heart. Charlie supported many charities throughout his life including the Canadian Red Cross, STARS, the Children`s Hospital, Heart and Stroke, Alzheimer’s Society and Canadian Diabetes Association. Charlie is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins in Calgary, Ontario, England and California. He was predeceased by his mother and father; Rose and Jack; his brother, Albert; and sister, Evelyn.
