Obituary of Vivian McKERCHER

Vivian Margaret McKercher passed away on March 11, 2013, at the age of 82, after a brief but sudden illness. Left to cherish her memory are her children Catherine, Barbara, Carol (George Morgan), David (Kevin Attewell), Jennifer (Dale Rott), and her much loved grandchildren Alexander and Andrea Madsen, Benjamin and Daniel Morgan, Lauren and James Rott. She was predeceased by her husband and soul mate, Lawrence, in January 2002. Vivian was born and raised in Shaunavon, SK. She completed her nursing training at the Grey Nun’s Hospital in Regina. She nursed in Whitehorse before returning to Shaunavon and meeting Lawrence. They moved to Calgary in 1958 where they raised their family and made their lives. Vivian was dedicated to her church community, volunteerism, music, the arts, and medical research. She was recognized by UNICEF Canada as national Volunteer of the Year in 1992 for her role as their Halloween Campaign coordinator. Vivian was committed to helping others and was passionate about social justice and environmental sustainability. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service celebrating Vivian’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16th, at 3:00 p.m. at Living Spirit United Church, 629 – 49th Avenue S.W. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, contributions may be made to UNICEF Canada or a charity of choice. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
