Obituary
Obituary of Graham HUMPHREY
Please share a memory of Graham to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Grahams family is sad to announce his unexpected passing at home at the age of 81 years.
Graham survived a life-changing car accident in 1963 that left him totally blind and severely hearing impaired. He returned to school to earn his high school equivalency, a Bachelors degree from Eastern Montana College and his Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counselling from the University of Northern Colorado. More important to Graham was the skill he developed in woodworking, also passed on to his sons Dan and Ryan, which gave him great satisfaction even to his final days.
Graham was blessed with two families over the past 60 years, of whom he was extremely proud. In the U.S. he is loved and remembered by his first wife, Jean, and children Jo, Gayle, Michele, Shaunna and Dan, their spouses and families. In Calgary he will be lovingly missed by his wife, Cindy, and their children Erin (Gregg) Langridge and the Coyotes Aidan, Collin and Brennan; Shannon (Jaruy Jarek) and his No.1, Brandon the Cougar Kid, Isabelle and a new grandson expected in June; and Ryan (Dana Mair). Graham also leaves his sister Cecile Ellis and her children Teresa, Sheila and Trevor in Ontario.
Grahams life was enriched by his membership in the Masonic Order. His memory is cherished by Brethren throughout Alberta for his extraordinary and flawless degree work, his wicked sense of humor and his ability to come up with the perfect story; who can forget Ole Olson and the $3600 Bull? The friendship and support of his Masonic brothers meant the world to Graham and is deeply appreciated by his family.
Graham was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Winnifred (Corps) Humphrey, his first-born daughter Debbie and his Seeing Eye dogs Tara, Nate, Cara and Solly.
At Grahams request, there will be no funeral service. Friends are encouraged to honour Grahams memory and celebrate his life in their own way.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Masonic Higher Education Bursary Fund, Grand Lodge of Alberta, 330 12th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2R 0H2, or The Seeing Eye Organization, c/o TH1017, PO Box 4283, Postal Station A, Toronto, ON M5W 5W6.
