Stanley Lloyd Grove of Calgary, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the age of 89 years.
Stan was born in Castor, Alberta where his family homesteaded.
Stan was a sworn employee with the Calgary Police Service and was a member in good standing with the Calgary Police Association; he was also a strong supporter of the CP Veterans Association. Stan’s good sense of humour accompanied his great work ethic and fairness which made him a super father, friend and boss. Stan was one of the original members of the Thorncliffe/Greenview Community Association. It was people like Stan, who laid the foundation for this successful organization. In addition to holding Executive positions, Stan has spent countless years volunteering with bingo nights, 58th Thorncliffe Scouts and coaching hockey. Stan has been known to be flooding the three outdoor rinks into wee hours of many mornings, so that budding players could skate the next day. His recognition was the: ‘Life Time Member Award.’ Stan was a decorated WWII veteran and will be proudly laid to rest in the Queen’s Park Cemetery’s “Field of Honor”.
Never was a better man born.
Stan leaves behind his sons and daughters-in-law Ken and Kathy, Bill, and John and Sandy; grandchildren Erin (Kelly) and Morgen; great-grandchildren Audrey and Ayden; siblings Alfred, Ken, Edna Kneller and Dorothy Pals.
Stan was predeceased by his wife Elsie, parents John and Mary, and brother Don.

The family expresses a special thanks to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs; as well as Dr. Celis and the staff at the Tecumseh House, Colonel Belcher Care Centre for their kindness, care and professionalism.
