Obituary of Joyce Anne GRAY
Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce beloved wife of Jim Gray of Calgary, AB, passed away on June 24, 2015 at the age of 64 years.
Joyce was born at Minto, New Brunswick on September 22, 1950 and grew up in Chipman, N.B. She moved to Alberta in 1970. She met Jim in Brooks and they were married in Calgary on December 19, 1970. Joyce was the proud mama of James (1974) and Colleen (1977) and the ‘million-dollar family’ was complete. Joyce resumed her career with the Royal Bank of Canada when the children started school and earned positions of increased responsibility over the next twenty-five years. She was particularly proud of obtaining a ‘Certified Financial Planner’ designation. Joyce retired from RBC January 1, 2006 but kept up contact with her fellow colleagues by attending RBC social functions and having regular lunch dates. During retirement, Joyce was able to visit family in New Brunswick and travel to Florida and Hawaii. She was the heart and soul of the Gray family and is greatly missed by all who loved her. A special thanks to the caregivers and nurses at The Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore, Somerset Neighbourhood, for all the loving care given to Joyce. Joyce’s wishes were for no funeral or memorial service and that her body be cremated.
“Joyce, you were my first love and will be my sweetheart for the rest of my days. Every day, I thank my lucky stars you came into my life. You gave me 44 years of love and devotion and made me a better person. Honey, we have taken different journeys but hopefully our final destination is the same. You were taken from me at such an early age. I miss you so much, my sweet and gentle ‘Rocky’.” Jim
Joyce is survived by her children, James (Lisa) Gray, Colleen (Larry) Baird, grandchildren Caitlyn, Danica, and James. She is also survived by her sisters June (Clenton) Chase, Jennifer (Gary) Armstrong and brothers Vincent (Hilda) Bishop and Bruce (Betty) Bishop, mother-in-law Diana Gray, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents Harley and Olive Bishop and brother Wayne Bishop.
