Obituary of Emmett BAILEY

Please share a memory of Emmett to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Emmett Bailey, beloved husband of Donna Bailey, passed away on October 31, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Emmett was born on September 18, 1930, in Shaunavon, SK. He lived his life to the fullest for 83 years until recently passing away on October 31, 2013. He was a fun loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Emmett was an excellent athlete in track, baseball, and especially hockey, playing for the Shaunavon Badgers, and in later years, an outstanding curler. Emmett's wife, Donna Kay Merrill, also grew up in Shaunavon where they met and married in 1952, and began a life long journey of 61 years together. Emmett started his career with Sears; moving to Swift Current, Sask, and then to Calgary, and eventually working for the City of Calgary until his retirement. He was a great friend to many and will be missed by all. Emmett is survived by his wife Donna Bailey; his son Jerry and his wife Liz with their daughter Jessica and partner Cheri with their daughter Abigail; daughter Stefanie and her husband Dave with their daughters Lilly and Alexis; son Bob and his wife Maureen with their sons Tyler, Keenan and Logan; daughter Jackie and her husband Wayne with their children Tayla and Ryland. Today we lost a great sport enthusiast, if he wasn’t a player or a coach, he was a proud supporter and “always there”. We will miss and love him always. As Emmett would say “Keep your head up”. Funeral Services will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 – 16th Avenue N.W., Calgary (across from the North Hill Shopping Centre), on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.hffs.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Alzheimer Society of Calgary, Suite 201, 222 – 58th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2S3, Telephone: (403)290-0110, www.alzheimercalgary.com.
