Obituary of Howard OWENS

It is with immense sorrow that we announce the untimely loss of Howie Owens, our dear son and brother. On November 5, 1959 Howard took his first breath of life at Calgary General Hospital. At age 55 on October 22, 2015 Howard took his last breath and was reunited with his beloved Louise who had waited two years for her king. May they love and laugh eternally at peace. Howie resided in Calgary all but a few years when he attended art college in Medicine Hat. He grew from a sweet, happy, blue-eyed, blonde cherub into a handsome young man. Throughout his adulthood he fought a valiant battle with schizophrenia and later a losing fight with diabetes. In spite of his mental illness, Howie had wonderful qualities such as his infectious chuckle, gentle bear hugs, meaningful conversations, enjoyment of family gatherings, love for music and talent as an artist, writer and aspiring actor. Howard will be sadly missed by three loving parents, Lawrence and Patricia Owens, and Barbara Woods. He is also survived by his beloved siblings Christina and her husband Bruce; Bridget and her children Lief, Astrid and Tatum; Susan and her daughter Chyane; Geoff; Talford Jonas, his fiancée Luisa and his children Tanea and Perrin; Tyson, his wife Kristine and sons Maclean and Torin; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and adored cats Tri-pod and Bill. He was predeceased by his first wife Heather and his second wife Louise. We will miss him always and love him forever. Thank you all for having been an important part of his life. A modest service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with luncheon to follow.
