Obituary of Dorothy Edythe MAXWELL

Dorothy Edythe Maxwell beloved wife of Charles Maxwell, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Dorothy loved her family and following them through their journey in life. She adored her grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments. She was active in sports, basketball and track in school, golf and curling for most of her life. She greatly enjoyed cheering on the Blue Jays. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for herself including her wedding and bridesmaid dresses, as well for her children when they were young. She was a marvelous cook, an avid reader and a tough gin rummy opponent. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Charles; daughter, Lindsay Simmonds of St. Albert, AB; son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Jane Maxwell of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Taylor and Nicole Simmonds, Reid and Erin Maxwell; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ellen Taylor of Calgary, AB; sister Myra Horvath as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Edith Taylor and her brother, James and sister-in-law, Janet Taylor. Cremation will take place with a private family gathering to be held at a later date.
