Obituary of Mary Belle VOLOSHIN

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary beloved wife of William Voloshin of Calgary , passed away on November 13, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Mary was born in Eskbank, Sk. to Pansy and Arthur Oliver. She was the youngest of five following Laurence, Aileen, Harold and Joy. At the age of 10 her family moved to their farm near Leslieville, AB. where Mary attended and completed her schooling. Following school she moved to Calgary where she attended business school and learned use of the ‘comptometer machines’, so keeping ‘tidy books’ through the years was her passion! During this time she met William (Bill) Voloshin in Calgary, who was completing his Mechanical Engineering degree in Saskatoon and was in the Canadian Army. He was soon stationed in Kitchener, ON and following his move there, Mary followed and they were married in Toronto, May 15, 1948. They lived in Kitchener until Bill’s acceptance of an engineering position with Fruehauf Trucking Company in Detroit, MI. This is where they lived and raised their three children Randy, Carey and Dale. They spent much of their free time in activities with the children and enjoyed many vacations camping and travelling with the children and friends. Bill worked with that company until his retirement. Following Bill’s retirement Mary and Bill made the decision to retire in Calgary, AB in 1988, where many friends and extended family lived. This meant leaving their daughter Carey in Detroit and sons Randy and Dale, who live in California, (a big decision for sure). This allowed them some wonderful times with friends and family for several years especially until Bill’s passing in 2000. Mary continued to enjoy the company of those friends and family until the past 2 years or so when she was not able to get out and enjoy the socializing. Much of the last two years were difficult for her, having several moves and hospital stays. She leaves to mourn her son Randy, his wife Cheryl and their boys Luke and Hank of San Fransisco, her son Dale of Aliso Viejo, CA and her daughter Carey in Detroit. She also leaves to mourn, three nieces and two nephews here in Alberta along with their families, and dear friends in Toronto, Detroit and Calgary. Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 2 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Alzheimer Society of Calgary, Suite 201, 222 – 58th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2S3, Telephone: (403)290-0110, www.alzheimercalgary.com.
