Obituary of Ada June SMITH

Ada Smith of Calgary, passed away in her 96th year, at home. After spending the day supported by loving family members, she slipped peacefully away on the evening of December 2nd. Ada is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah Venables of Calgary; grandaughter, Chandra Venables, (Colin Olito); cherished great grandchild, Elena Ausrine Venables Olito; all of Melbourne, Australia; grandson, Indra Venables; Busan, South Korea; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her husband, William Gordon Smith; son, Gordon William Smith and young daughter, Denise June; parents, Edgar and Maude Read; all her dear, older sisters and brothers. In addition, several loved four legged family members. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Ada’s physician, Dr Matt Henschke, for special care and support. Also, thank you to all the members of “team Ada” in the Palliative HomeCare group. A special thank you to family members who faithfully visited, supported and lovingly made it possible to fulfill Ada’s wish of remaining at home for the final chapter in her life’s journey. According to Ada’s wishes there will be no service; rather, a celebration of her long and eventful life will be held in Ada’s beloved garden, in the Spring of 2016.
