Obituary of Arthur George BLOOM

Art passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at the age of 92 years. Art was born in South Shields, England and his family emigrated to Calgary when he was one year old. He served in the RCAF where he met Carrie and they married soon after. He worked as a landman for British American Oil (which later became Gulf Oil) for 36 years. Art and Carrie spent time living in both Edmonton and Calgary, finally settling in Calgary. Art was a dignified, upstanding and outgoing person whom many people admired. He enjoyed life immensely particularly travel, camping, woodworking and stained glass work. Art leaves behind Gerry (Peter Bailey) of North Wales; Linda (Jack Baugh) and Diana (Dave Leslie) of Calgary; and Dale (Denyse Dugas) of Vulcan; as well as eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Art was the only son of George and Ethel Bloom. Art was predeceased by his loving wife Carrie, of 61 years. A private family interment will take place on Tuesday, March 08, 2016, followed by a Memorial Service at Faith Lutheran Church, 1903 - 19th Avenue N.W. at 2:00pm.
