Jane was a remarkable archaeologist, scholar, activist and mentor. I will miss our meals at Mexican (or pseudo-Mexican) restaurants at the SAA meetings, but of course much more miss her knowledge, advice, friendship, and wisdom. Still, she has left a remarkable legacy across a broad area of geography and on a very group of people.

Jane was a gift to anyone's life she came into. However brief or small the connection you could not go away unmoved or unseen. May we all remember that gift, receive it as given and honour her and her family by being that gift to someone today and always. Wishing the family and loved ones memories of her firey grace and fierce love in every moment.

Jane's warmth and equanimity radiated through our world. Her life was exemplary as a human and a scholar. A gray emptiness now lies where she was; only the condolences of so very many who basked in her sunshine ameliorate it.

Dear Kelley Family,
I was very sad to hear about your loss, and wanted to let you know my thought are with you. I'll always appreciate the time I got to spend with Jane in Chihuahua, and was grateful to see her earlier this year. Calgary and many other archaeology communities owe Jane so much. She helped and influenced so many of us, and we'll always remember her intellect and the ways she mentored and valued people.
Yours, Matt

My thoughts are with you right now. I knew Jane and Dave when I was a graduate student at the University of Nebraska before they moved to Calgary. My then wife Karma and I babysat for the twins ( and Ramon) when Jane and David traveled to Calgary to interview for the position there.
We kept up during the years until I became a dean here at NDSU. Both Jane and Dave were important in my becoming a professional, and in my years at NYU and Illinois. I miss them both, but especially Jane, who was a broad anthropologist as well as administrator.
There is a hole in the world....

I'm very sad to hear of Jane's passing. I took many classes from her in the early 90s and from the first course I sought out any topic that she taught. Her sense of joy was infectious and she inspired the best in her students. She made you want to do well just so you could see her smile at you. My thoughts are with her friends and family.

I’m sure she is in the Flower World, and she is there giving her love to everyone, as she did with all of us.
We will miss her incommensurably in Northern Mexico’s archaeology.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Jane was a wonderful and honest person with great optimism and energy. We spent the last few years working on her book on Chihuahua archaeology, which will be completed with the help of David Phillips. She was involved right up to the end and produced yet another significant contribution. I will miss her warmth and humor. Rest in peace, Jane.

It will be missed. She worked my home country El Salvador in the late 1970's. She thoroughly revised my thesis with Dr. Garvin in 2014, lending me a hand with many good suggestions and insights. I will be always thankful and glad for meeting such an amazing and beautiful soul. My deepest condolence to her love ones. Bye Dr. Kelley, R.I.P.

Dave and Jane Kelley helped to shape my career and were great role models for the person I would like to be when I was a young graduate student at University of Calgary in the 1980s.
As my advisor, I have many fond memories of listening to Dave speak on the many subjects in which he had expert knowledge.
Throughout my career I have often used Jane as a an example of a woman who could do it all, raise her family and rise to a position of leadership and great scholarly achievement in her field.
My condolences to friends and family.

In the late 80s, I walked into AIDS Calgary and right into the literal and figurative embrace of Jane and Dave. We shared a tremendous and ever-lasting bond. Our friendship was deeply meaningful, and I will hold Jane in my memories and in my heart always and forever. She was momma to all, and she was my very dear friend. To Becky, Dennis, and Megan - my very deepest condolences.

Hello Megan,
I was so sorry to hear of your mother's death. She seemed so strong when I last saw her at your house. You were planning a trip to Arizona and I thought she had more time. She was a wonderful woman and it was a privilege to have known her.
I will unfortunately be out of town for the next 3 weeks so will miss her funeral and reception. I will contact you when I return to Calgary in late May to discuss completing the acquisition of her records. Take care. I will be thinking of you and your family on Saturday.
