Obituary of Maria NUREK

It is with great sadness that the family of Maria Nurek announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the age of 67 years. Maria was born in 1948 in Germany and later immigrated with her family to Canada in 1961. Maria volunteered extensively in the Ukrainian community and was very proud of her heritage which she passed on to her children. She touched the lives and hearts of many patients as a personal health care aid in Calgary for the past 30 years. She will be remembered by her family, friends and co-workers for her kind nature and dedication to caring for others. She is survived by her mother Anna; sons, Roman and Andrew as well as family members in Canada, Ukraine and Poland. Maria was predeceased by her father Tymisz and her husband Bernard. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 – 6th Street N.E.) on, Friday, May 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704–6th Street N.E.) on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with the Reverend Michael Bohun presiding. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery.
