Obituary of Anant PRASAD

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Anant Prasad. He passed away peacefully in his own home, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, following a 16-month battle with complications from a stroke. Following his studies in India, Anant attended Cardiff University, Wales, where he graduated with a degree in mining engineering. Anant’s illustrious 40 years of Professional Engineering experience spanned both industry and government in senior management positions. He served as Chief Inspector and Director of Mines for the Province of Alberta, and held positions of responsibility at other Oil and Gas companies in Mining, Engineering and Operations. Most recently, he served as Vice President of HSE and Human Resources for Terracon Geotechnique Ltd. Anant was awarded a fellowship for outstanding contributions to the Canadian minerals industry and to the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum. Anant will be remembered for his kind heart, integrity, and commitment to his family. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Prema; his son Asim (Lyndsay), daughters Niha (Pawel) Kroliczek and Anu (Tarun) Sahay, and his grandchildren Paul, Maya, and Dylan. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to share stories about Anant during that time would be welcome to do so.
