Obituary of Lorna Jean KENNIE

Lorna Kennie passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms, at the Bethany Care Home, on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 76 years after a 10 year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Lorna was born March 4, 1940 to Milton and Sadie (nee Lyman) Kennie. She was the youngest of three with one brother and a sister. Lorna loved being with family and friends and loved a good laugh when someone told a funny story. She was an avid dog lover, her little dog Tuppence was always by her side whenever she was seen. While she lived in Alberta she loved to take vacations back East to New Brunswick to see family and friends. Lorna worked for the Government Office of Employment for about 20 years before retiring at age 65. She was a wonderfully caring and loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Lorna will be dearly missed and buried in our hearts forever. Lorna leaves, to cherish her loving memory, her children, Virginia (Simpson) Taumoli and Tim (Lynn) Butland; Grandchildren, Joel (Sarah), Ryan (Drew), Lincoln Taumoli, and Megan Carson; Great Grandchildren, Benjamin and Brayden; her Brother, Adrian (Marilyn) Kennie and sister, Lois McDaniel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorna was predeceased by her son, Michael Butland. There will not be a funeral service at the request of the family; cremation will take place at Calgary Crematorium and Funeral Services. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Bethany Care Centre for the exceptional care and kindness Lorna received.
