Obituary of Laszlo SOOS

Laszlo Soos of Calgary passed away at the Brentwood Care Centre on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Laszlo immigrated to Canada in 1957. He attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where he completed studies in professional cooking and management. For most of his career, he worked at the Dining Centre, University of Calgary in various capacities; first as a Sous Chef, then as an Executive Chef, and finally as a Production Manager, where he held a wide array of administrative responsibilities. Laszlo was a dedicated and hardworking employee. He was an avid gardener and for Laszlo, his home was his castle. Laszlo enjoyed many simple pleasures in life - dancing, good food, playing cards with friends, and listening to music. Laszlo is survived by his long-time companion and best friend, Pirkko and her family; his son David; grandchildren Madison and Coltan of Toronto; as well as extended family in Hungary. A private celebration in the form of a family gathering will be held to commemorate Laszlo’s passing. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of Laszlo’s caregivers on the Morrison Unit at Brentwood Care Centre for their excellent care over the past three years.
