I was so saddened to hear of Nikki's death. I send my deepest sympathies to her family, especially to Mahni, who I knew when she was a child. My children and Mahni were classmates at the Unitarian Church of Calgary Religious Education Program. Mahni, please know that I am with you today in spirit and will always remember your mom as a wonderful friend and colleague, someone whose support of the Sunday school inspired many other people to become teachers. And I know her love for you was central to all of the many things you have accomplished. I'm sure you have grown up now to become a wonderful young lady with much potential. Nikki's support of all the children and their families at UCC was something I'll never forget. Much love to you today. May the support of all those around you help you to accomplish your dreams today and far into the future.

Dearest family of Nikki, I am so, so sorry to hear the news of Nikki's passing. I well remember her through our work together at the Unitarian Church, especially when our children were young and in the Religious Education program there - and also energetically climbing the Calgary Tower around Earth Day! I also enjoyed seeing Nikki's magical smile when we occasionally ran into each other on campus at UCalgary or in the wider community. Always, our interactions were in a context of care, empathy, encouragement, and love.Although I will be out of town on Saturday, please know my thoughts are with you all.
