Obituary of Ruth HENDERSON

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother, Ruth Henderson on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the age of 86 years. Ruth was born on December 7, 1929 at the Calgary General Hospital to Ernest and Olive LeVesconte; she was the third of five daughters. She lived her entire life in Calgary. In 1950 she married John Henderson; and together, they raised three children. Ruth worked at many jobs in her life, but her family always came first. She loved her home, her flowers, her solar light garden on the porch, her bingo, the many road trips with family and the simple things in life. She will be dearly missed by her three children Stewart Henderson, Debra Hastings, Susan Lakeman (Ron); her six grandchildren Kaley Vandenberg (Greg), Kyle Henderson, Chris Hastings, Erin Hastings, Brianne Lakeman and Tyler Lakeman; her three great-grandchildren Cassandra, Jack and Ashlynn Vandenberg; her sister Kathy; as well as many nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her husband John; her parents Ernest and Olive LeVesconte, her three sisters Jean, Noreen and Dorothy, and her son-in-law Donald Hastings. A Celebration of Life will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the The Salvation Army Agapé Hospice, 1302 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1B8, telephone: (403) 282-6588. The family would like to thank Dr. Osei-Tutu, Dr. McKenna, Dr. Chari, and all the staff of Unit 46 at Foothills Medical Centre. As well, we would like to thank Dr. Sharma, Dr. Larissa, and the nursing staff at the Agape Hospice, for making it possible for mom to pass peacefully and comfortably.
