Obituary of Ib Golsche KNAPPE

The Knappe family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ib Knappe on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the age of 80 years.

He was born in Klejtrup Denmark in 1936. Ib was an adventurous young man; he travelled around Europe on his motor bike.  His curious spirit brought him to Canada in 1956, where he continued his adventures. Ib apprenticed as a cabinet maker, and became a very skilled carpenter and draftsman. He worked as a Commercial Cabinet maker.

Ib was a very kind and gracious man. He lived his life simply with gratitude and in his passing had no regrets for a life well lived.

He is survived by his three children, Loretta (Jim) Gotmy, Melinda Knappe, Richard (Jennifer) Knappe; and his nine grandchildren Ali Gotmy, Zac Gotmy, Yoseph Gotmy, Kailey (Josh) Murphy, Payne Mcfarland, Blake Perry, Candice Perry, Cody Knappe, and Jordan Knappe. Ib is also survived by his brother Per (Tove) Knappe and his sister Ulla (Wilhelm) Knappe, who both live in Esbjerg, Denmark.

Ib is predeceased by the love of his life Diane Lee Knappe  (nee Calvert).

A Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful angels at the Chinook Hospice who made dad’s last few month so comfortable.
