Obituary of Ruza ZIVKUSIC

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Ruza Zivkusic at the age of 91 years.

Ruza was born January 7, 1926 in Dole , Herzegovina.  Even though she came to Canada in the later years of her life, Ruza quickly adjusted and made Calgary her home.

Ruza was a devoted member of the Croatian Catholic Church and always enjoyed meeting new people. Her favourite activities included baking, sewing, and gardening with her late husband, Jure Zivkusic.  Ruza also enjoyed spending time with her granchildren.

Ruza is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Jadranka and Franjo Brinovac,  Marija and Mato Stivanicevic; son Vlado Zivkusic; grandchildren Ivo, Blaz, Deanna, Martin and Suzy; great-grandchildren Carlo, Issaiah, Lukas, Luka and Grace; as well as sister Stana (Stanko) Rasic.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Jure; parents Mijo and Anica Tolj; brother Franjo; and sister Iva Tolj.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 – 16th Avenue N.W. (across from the North Hill Shopping Centre, Calgary) on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive SE) on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 am.  Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery and reception at the Calgary Crematorium Chapel (3219 – 4th Street NW).
