Obituary of Leon (Len) HACKMAN

Leon Hackman passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the age of 88 years.

Leon spent most years of his life building roads, bridges and dams throughout Western Canada and the high Arctic. He greatly enjoyed managing construction projects that contributed to the opening and development of remote regions of Canada. Leon would walk hundreds of miles each summer across the sites to ensure quality, protected from bears and black flies only with his garlic. During the winter months he would be home rebuilding his strength, enjoying time with his family, and catching up with world affairs.  He had lived in Edmonton, Olds and Calgary.

Besides his partner Huizhu Chen, Leon is also survived by his former wife Dorothy Hackman; daughter Diana Reid; son Richard Hackman; and five grandchildren.

Leon was predeceased by his parents Constantine and Sonja Hackman and his daughter Donna Hackman.
