Obituary of Amelia "Amy" Katherine DATTENBERGER
Amelia Katherine Dattenberger, our beloved mother, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the age of 90 years, due to recent complications of a blockage.
Amy was born in Three Hills, Alberta to Joseph and Mary Kubinec. She grew up with four sisters Barbara, Mary, Helen, and Josephine; two brothers Joseph and Edward; two additional siblings Mary and Alexander (who passed away at young ages); as well as with numerous nieces and nephews.
Amy and husband Ernest were married on September 21, 1961 and raised two children Simone and Sheldon.
Amy spent her adult life living in Calgary working at legal firms. Later, she moved to Irvine, Alberta and owned and operated the Irvine Hotel. She worked countless hours with seemingly boundless energy and still made time to bring kids to activities.
Upon Ernie's death in 2001, Amy retired and moved to Medicine Hat and eventually moved into Teoda Lodge where she enjoyed many years. In November 2016, Amy moved to Calgary to be closer to her daughter Simone.
Amy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Simone and Murray Cotton; son and daughter-in-law Sheldon Dattenberger and Chantal Guay; grandchildren Brendan, Shelby and Spencer.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.) on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 5:00 pm. Reception to follow at Simone and Murray's house.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region, Suite #400, 105 – 12th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A1 Telephone: (403) 297 – 1700, www.cmha.calgary.ab.ca
