Obituary of Barbara May Johnson

Granny Barb passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the age of 77 years.

Barb was a farmer. She spent the last 45 years on the farm in Lyalta caring for the land and the animals.  Anyone who had the opportunity to visit knew this was her passion.  Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never missed the opportunity to talk about their achievements and accomplishments.  Granny Barb lived for her family and looked forward to any occasion that would bring them together. She loved so many and will be missed by many more.

She is survived by two sons Mark Nielsen (Strathmore) and Lance Nielsen (CFB Edmonton); daughter and son-in-law  Bonny and Jess Debnam (Strathmore); two grandsons Judd and Tynel; two great-grandchildren Payton and Nolan; sister June Burnett (Airdrie); brother-in-law Ed Wellington (Calgary); sister-in-laws Mary Devolin (Didsbury), and Grace Devolin (Airdrie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Barb was predeceased by her parents Hugh and Ivy Devolin; sister Geraldine Wellington; and brothers Ron and Ken Devolin.

At Barb’s request, an informal gathering of friends and family will be held at the Lyalta Community Hall, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 between 1:00pm and 4:00p.m.
