Obituary of Gladys May VALLANCE

Today, our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our cherished mother, Gladys May Vallance. She was surrounded by her loving family, honoured for the faithfulness, kindness, strength and generosity she has always shown and bestowed upon us.

She had many passions, interests, and talents, but to name a few, our mom was an active member of the Gilli-Hook Heritage Knitters Guild (and achieved her ‘master-knitter’s award’), she was an avid sorts fan; any sports, but particularly tennis, NFL, and curling. She loved many other crafts, Gladys was indeed a talented artist and we all benefitted greatly over the years.

She leaves those to celebrate everything beautiful about her; her brother Steve (Teryl); her children Kevin (Darlene); Colin (Theresa); Teresa (Kelly); Wendy (Bob); and her son-in-law Phil. She also leaves her treasured grandchildren who absolutely adore her and will always affectionately hold her heart close; Shaun (Lisa); Vanessa (Aaron) with great-grandson Jackson; Jennifer; Krista (Farhad); Jason; Kyle (Kristy); Brit (Graeme) with great-grandson Samuel; Jessica and Kendra.

Awaiting her love and presence is her husband Blaine (2011); her faithful dog Rusty (2013); her daughter Vicki (2016); and son Darcy (2007).

Those wishing to pay their respects and to share a moment to remember “the nicest lady on the planet” may do so at Silverwood on the Park on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please wear a sweater to honour one of her many talents, knitting.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Bow-Crest Resident Enhancement Fund, 5927 Bowness Road N.W., Calgary, AB, T3B 0C7, Telephone:  403-288-2373.

We would like to acknowledge the love, care, and attention provided by the amazing staff at Bow-Crest. Not only did you care for our mom, you cared for us. It did not matter your role, whether housekeeper, laundry, or nursing staff, you all extended a loving and caring hand. For this, we have been so thankful.

Special thanks to her “best friends” Efren, Loyda, and Tiffany. Our very grateful hearts will forever feel obliged to Dr. David Todd for his devoted and compassionate care. Mom waited for one last Tuesday morning breakfast date with him.

Oh, how we will miss you mama bear!!!! We love you to the moon and back; a bushel and a peck.
