Obituary of Gladys THOMAS

Gladys Thomas of Calgary passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Gladys married George Thomas on October 9, 1943 in Calgary. Gladys taught school for over 40 years. She began her career in Dalum and Wayne, AB, and later in Calgary at the Lakeview Elementary School retiring in 1983. Following her retirement, Gladys and her husband travelled extensively throughout the world where they enjoyed many adventures and cruises to exotic locations. Gladys had many passions, especially painting, reading and most of all she loved picnics with her family and friends. Gladys is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Julie Thomas; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bob Lowery; daughter-in-law, Geordie Glenn (Kirby); granddaughters, Kelly Thomas and Shannon (Chad) Shoemaker all of Calgary, AB as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 2007; son, Brian in 1986; and her sister, Virginia Neilson. A Memorial Service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
