Dear family of Marjory
I have been reading the wonderful tributes you have all written about a Mother and Nana. I knew Marjory while she lived in Montreal and of course through Vicki and Peter I now just wished I knew her better. What a wonderful lady and your words speak volumes. She will be missed but her amazing love and the respect she had will be with you all for ever may we all learn from this strong vibrant lady and go out in style. Love to you all

My Nana.
My Nana was the sweetest lady I've ever known. She always had a kind word for me, even when I was undeserving. She always knew what to say to make me see the brighter side. To hope for the future. She could also call a spade a spade without being cruel or harsh, which always made her kind words resonate even more.
I will always remember her joyful smile, playfull laugh and those cat eyes of hers. And of course her in her soft white bunny jacket. I will miss our chats about life, sports, politics, philosophy and so much more.
My Nana was my confidant, the one person I could always share with and never be disappointed in the result.
Words can never describe the feeling of her absence in this plane of existence leaves in us. But I take solace in knowing that she is our guardian angel now. I've already felt her with me, whispering and protecting.
I love and miss you so much,
My Nana

Nana,
You are the strongest woman I have ever known and to say that you are my grandmother comes with an unexplainable pride. Each time that I have to dig for strength in my life I find it through the thoughts of you, through the thoughts of my mother and the rest of the strong willed family you have raised.
You were so progressive and forward thinking for your generation and your curiousity for learning the "new" narrowed the gap between our ages. You always understood me and made me feel that I could trust my instincts and obtain reassurance from you.
I will miss your laugh, your loving smile, holding your hand, your kisses and our conversations.
I feel so thankful that you are our angel looking out for us still. I can't wait to tell my child all about the greatest Nana there ever was! Xoxoxoxo. Until we meet again!

It's hard to put into words ones feelings of loss when someone passes. Earlier this week our family lost our beloved Nana at 94 years young. She was last of our grandparents to go and although it was time, that loss is still greater than imagined.
Above is a picture of the entire Coates family when we celebrated our Nana's 89th Birthday...it was the first time in 37 years that the entire family was together. It is one of our most cherished memories.
This Saturday we will gather once again to remember and celebrate a life well lived by our Nana - Marjory Alice Coates

To My Mommy
There are no words.
Being the youngest, I feel perhaps I got the best of Mommy's time, and I hope near the end of her life she felt she got the best of mine.
She was quite the lady, touching everyone in her life in one way or another.
My siblings have said it best, strong, independent, ahead of her time, loving, kind, but most of all she was there for all of us, she was Our Mommy!
Mom, you gave us life, love and strength, you will be forever in my heart.
I Love you.
Peanut.

For my Mom
My Mom...we always seem to idolize our loved ones when they pass, remembering only the good things. And I guess this is how it should be. But Mom was human and had her faults like all of us. I just can’t remember any of them right now.
For all our lives she was the Matriarch of the family...in her own way this little lady kept us all in line and moving in the right direction. She will be sorely missed.
The funniest thing about Mom to me is her resistance to being labelled a feminist...she and I had many a heated discussion about this. But in my mind her life choices and actions were way before her time...she raised five of her six children alone with love and strength and courage long before it was fashionable or acceptable to do so. She faced hardship and discrimination with a positive attitude and a sense of humour. That used to tick me off as I thought she should be more angry about things.
She set the example that you don’t have to be loud and aggressive to be effective. I’m trying Mom.
She loved her boys...that was always an inside joke with her daughters...but we know she loved us all.
We will hold you in our hearts forever Mom. Be free now with Pappy, Wade, and little Andre.
Love you,
Ling ling

Mom was strong, loving and compassionate, and always a lady. She approached life with grace and determination.
A proud matriarch with such hopes and dreams for all of her children and grandchildren. Always praising one of us to another showing her pride in our achievements and her love for each of us. No matter how tough times were for us she always managed to help us through them so we never felt alone.
She lived for us and chose her time to go when she knew we were all together.
Mom played the hand she was dealt. She was a trailblazer, a women ahead of her time. She was an accomplished manager when it was not readily acceptable for a women to hold such a position especially where men were reporting to her.
We must also note she worked until she was 72 years young and only to retire to look after her ill partner.
So really, did she ever stop!
Mom I admired you, respected you, and will continue to love you forever!

A Poem for Nana Banana
I’ll always remember Nana Banana for her laugh and smile
The sparkle in her eye and her impeccable style
She was a true lady, who really had some taste
Full of witty banter, and could put you in your place
Not only was she cleaver, whipping off smart retorts
She could tell you anything, about her favourite sports
I’ll remember her for cards, and the games we used to play
She always let me win, in her fun, kind-hearted way
She would call me ‘Mildred’ and I called her ‘Gertrude’
For this would really put us, in the card-shark playing mood
And don’t test her at Crosswords, for you will surely fail
And when it’s your birthday, make sure to check the mail
Because Nana Banana never forgot to send us birthday bills
To buy ourselves ‘something pretty’, she spoiled us to the gills
For a hard working lady who raised six kids on her own
She’s one of the kindest people, that I have ever known
So I will pour a drink or two to toast my Nana Marge
She had a big impact on us, that’s really rather large
To a lady who achieved so much with so little to start
She had happiness, family and love, to the very last beat of her heart
We love you Nana Banana
Alex (alias Mildred)

In loving memory of my Mom:
My Mom was a gracious lady, kind of a princess in some ways, but made of steel underneath. She was way ahead of her time in her views on life and the way she lived her life.
People of all ages, babies to the elderly and everyone in between could relate to her.
She always wanted everyone to live their lives to the fullest without hurting others as much as possible.
Respect others, but live free!
A dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Toronto Blue Jays fan and an awesome Texas Hold’em player!
She loved and lived life well and she will be sorely missed. Love you forever, Mom.

For Mom With Love:
Mom was first and foremost a loving mother and grandmother. A tender, kind and compassionate Mom who loved children...all children. And children loved her back. Ours was the house where the neighbourhood kids, including teenagers, gathered to talk, eat and chill. When other adults chased them away, Mom opened her home and her heart to our little local gangs. Many times I believe this kept them off the street and safe. That was Marge. She always tried to keep everyone warm, safe and secure. And once she knew that I and my siblings were warm, safe and secure, she was able to leave us and join the love of her life, who had waited 22 years for her to be with him forever in paradise.
Goodbye for now Mom, save a spot for us all on the other side.
Love, love and more love forever for a wonderful lady.
Love Vicky
