Obituary of Miriam KRYSKI

Please share a memory of Miriam to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Miriam Kryski (nee Ermacora) passed away with family at her side on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 92 years.

Miriam was born in Trail, B.C. to Augusta and Giuseppe Ermacora.  She was raised in a loving Italian family with her four other siblings.  She attended Central School.  As a teenager, she spent a year in Powell River helping her sister with her new baby.  Upon returning to Trail, she began working, first for Lauriente’s Grocery Store, later for Modern Shop, a ladies clothing store, on Rossland Avenue.  In 1949, at a Saturday dance, she met her husband to be, Albert John Kryski.  They married in July 1951 and together they had six children.  As a mother and wife, her life was a mix of raising a family, working, and socializing with friends.  In the late 1960’s and through 1970’s Miriam and Al were the proprietors of the Ray Lyn Motel.  Their entrepreneurial nature also led them to develop a subdivision in Trail named Miral Heights (derived from their names, Miriam and Al).  After losing her husband in 1989, Miriam continued to live in Trail.  She spent her time travelling to Spokane with her sister-in-law, Dorothy, and the local seniors group; as well as travelling abroad to Spain, Portugal, and Hawaii with her sister, brother-in-law, and friends. She always enjoyed and welcomed visits from her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended relatives at her home.  Due to health issues, Miriam moved to Calgary to be closer to family at the age of eighty-two.

Miriam will be remembered as a warm and caring mother, who was devoted to raising her children.  She was a kind and gentle mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She loved to garden and bake.  She was a thoughtful listener and a person who always appreciated a good joke.

Miriam is survived by her children, Janice Ewing (Clayton Shedd), Deborah (Peter) Farnell, Arlene (Norman) Armstrong, Albert (Shellie) Kryski, Patrick (Brenda) Kryski, and Colin (Linda) Kryski; grandchildren, Andrea (Randy) MacBeth, Kathrine Farnell (Ian Hall), Jason Kryski, Victoria Farnell (Kat Moss), Justin (Vicki) Kryski, Bradley Armstrong, Eric (Kathryn) Kryski, Jeff (Jill) Kryski, Stephen Armstrong, Michael (Kelsey) Kryski, Evan Kryski and Emily Kryski; great-grandchildren Preston, Dawson, Deegan, Joseph, Emilia, Madelyn, Jakob and Samuel; as well as sister, Louisa Ganzert.

At Miriam’s request, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Mountain View Cemetery in Trail.  A family memorial service will be held in the spring.  Please forward condolences through www.calgarycrematorium.com

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation (Poplar Ridge Pavilion or Columbia View Lodge), 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, B.C., V1R 4M1, website www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Krysta Dyck and the staff at Bow View Manor, Crowfoot Unit, for their care of Miriam during her life in Calgary.
