Obituary of Gloria Christine McLEOD
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gloria at the Sarcee Hospice with her daughters, Cami and PJ (Erin), by her side. Gloria is survived by her two daughters and her two cherished grandchildren, Jack and Lucy Manson.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Selma and Jack Mulligan, as well as her beloved husband of 46 years, Jim.
Gloria was born and raised in Calgary and she went on to become an x-ray technician at the Colonel Belcher Hospital. This is where she met Jim who, after bringing in a prisoner to be x-rayed, asked for her phone number. Gloria loved being a stay-at-home mom and was an amazing caregiver to her family. She volunteered endless hours at the girls’ schools and she was an ever-present fan and cheerleader for both of them in all of their many sporting endeavours.
Gloria was always stylish and a beautiful woman inside and out. Strangers were drawn to her and she would always have time for a smile and a chat. Gloria had a quiet, comforting way with everyone she met.
An informal gathering to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held at the Valley Ridge Golf Club, 11618 Valley Ridge Park N.W., on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Valley Ridge Lodge, Dr. Pabani and Kate from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the staff at the Sarcee Hospice.
