Dearest Lois and to her Family.
I only just found out of your passing today. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't reach you on the phone for our
Christmas Season call. And then when I came to Calgary this past June and July I couldn't reach you. Now I know why.
I loved our talks and catching up with the lives of our kids and our jobs. We both had bad health and joked about always
running into each other while we were admitted into the Foothills Hospital. Sometimes I would have time to chat with you when you went through your dialysis. Every Christmas season, either before it got crazy those two or three weeks or after the New Year. We still brought up the same stories and comforted each other during our hardships. Laughing and crying. Although I have to admit Lois you were always the stronger one. You were the youngest of our Cooking Class. We took you under our wing and tried to make sure you didn't drink too much. We spent a few New Years Parties together those first few years and as our lives got busier we just simply talked on the phone. Just seeing each other every 3 or 4 years so we jokingly said we needed to so that we would recognize each other. I usually moved away to Red Deer, or Saskatchewan and we would reconnect. Then when I moved here to St. Louis, MO. it was just the phone. I guess now I can talk to you always here without a phone call. I miss your deeply sexy voice and wish to hear it one more time. I remember you and I remember all that we shared. I love you and will never forget you my sweet, sweet friend.

Hugh, Pauline and family.
I saw this today and my heart broke when I read about Lois. I am so very sorry for your loss of such a gentle soul. Memories of Lois was that she was always so happy, smiling, and her love and compassion for dogs. Please accept my condolences.
With sincere sympathy,

Some of you may have seen this ...but after the funeral this poem flowed out of my pencil. I wish Lois’ life did not end so terribly soon but .... but I do have hope for tomorow.

Highwood Elementary Remembered: An Ode to a Fallen Classmate
I heard the news the other day
My classmate’s time was done,
And with that news comes all the end,
Of what she had begun.
‘Peace on earth’ is what folks sang,
In ever joyous note,
Yet peace to her is silent sleep,
‘The End’ is what they wrote.
I look to her and think of when,
On playground we did stay,
I look to her and mind it wonders
Was that so far away?
Yet here it is... seems not long ago,
Now gather we in a church,
To say good-bye, to bid adieu,
Through funeral we do lurch.
Of religion and things I understand little
Though once they called me Pastor,
One wishes to see into Heavens Halls,
The place they call ‘here-after.’
But still I know, all through this land
Near rivers Elbow and Bow,
I look to forest, I view new flower,
I see this resurrection grow.
The trees they die, each fall and winter
Only to find in spring,
The birds they fly, on wing they flutter,
Near new leaves yes they do sing.
And as that tree returns to life,
I wonder so each new day,
I wonder if things are as of old,
As those of ancient did say.
So ‘Peace on Earth’ ‘Good Will to Men,’
Of Lois our hearts can sing,
For like the tree the flower the grass,
Her life will be rising.
So do I know just how that looks,
I am but a humble man
Yet is my hunch that we’ll see her again,
Its clear...its part of the plan.
