Obituary of Anna TIUTKO

It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Tiutko announces her peaceful passing on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

 

Anna was born in 1926 in a region of SE Poland known to Ukrainians as Lemkivshchyna.  Under German occupation of this region during WWII, Anna was taken to Germany as a farm labourer at the age of fourteen.  After the war, she stayed in Germany in search of other family members, during which time she met and married Tymisz; and shortly after, she gave birth to her only daughter Maria in 1948. In 1961, they immigrated to Canada and made a home in Calgary, Alberta, where Anna was a devoted homemaker and active member of the Ukrainian community. Anna will be remembered for her kind nature, strong faith in God and pride in her Ukrainian heritage which she passed onto her family.

                               

Anna is survived by her grandsons Roman and Andrew (Jessica); great-grandson Anton; as well as family members in Canada, USA, Ukraine, Poland, Germany and Russia.

 

She is predeceased by her husband Tymisz; daughter Maria;   parents Anna and Anton; and siblings Maria, Ivan, Mykhaylo and Olena.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation and Prayers at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 – 6th Street N.E.) on Thursday, January 25, 2018; Visitation from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. followed by Prayers at 7:00 p.m.

 

Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 – 6th Street N.E.) on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., with the Reverend Father Mykhaylo Bohun presiding.  Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.

The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Foothills Medical Centre, Unit #61, as well as the staff at the Agape Hospice for their devoted care and attention during Anna’s final weeks.
