He was born on May 5th 1942 and raised in Pind Boparai Kalan in Punjab, India. He was the youngest of four siblings. His oldest sister is Shamsher Kaur who still lives in India, his older brother late Mohinder Singh Boparai, and his youngest sister Rajinder Kaur Mangat who lives in the UK.

As a child he was very mischievous, he hated going to school but loved playing cards with his friends. He was very sociable and was friendly to all. Right from the beginning, he had deep family values and always stood up for what he believed in. His kind soul and generous heart will forever be cherished in everyone’s heart.

Charan Singh married Sukhdev Kaur on April 1967 and they had four beautiful children. The oldest-daughter being Paramjit Kaur Chahal, their son Narinder Singh Boparai, second daughter Kamaljit Kaur Sohi and youngest daughter Ramandeep Kaur Boparai.

Charan enjoyed travelling around the world, he lived in Dubai, UK, South Africa and America before he migrated to Canada with his family, specifically Calgary in April 1994.

He worked resiliently to build his home in Canada at the same time he always went out of his way to help others who were new immigrants to Canada as well.

He leaves behind 11 grandchildren, in whose life he was very prominent. All his grandchildren love him dearly and miss him very much.

He went to the Gurdwara on a daily basis to do seva and get himself involved into the community. He has a big circle of friends who respect him along with his family. Even on his last days, he was very keen to ensure he attended the gurdwara.
