Obituary of Muriel BURCHILL
Muriel was born and grew up in Calgary. She had lived in the family home since she was 6 years old. She worked at Burns, on the Butter floor, where she met Gordon and at the age of 21, they married on March 8, 1947.
Muriel's mother and uncle lived with them until they both passed in 1961.
Mom loved children and enjoyed many years babysitting in her home.
Grandma loved and adored her grandchildren. Our parents always said that grandchildren keep you young. She loved going to MacDonald's for lunch with the kids, hockey games for Brian, and baking with the kids. Mom had the patience of a saint with the grandchildren. She never said no to anything they asked her to do.
Janine spent a lot of time visiting and caring for her. She would take selfies with her and she would laugh out loud. Lots of wonderful memories.
Muriel loved to bake and spent hours baking. Never just one of anything, always 4-6 cakes at a time, and would give them away. The last 6 or 7 years she couldn't bake anymore, but Brenda got her recipes and would bake for her. Her eyes would light up and she would say that she used to make things like muffins, cinnamon buns, and her favorite butter tarts.
We cared for mom at home for as long as we could. We made the difficult decision to place mom in George Boyak nursing home. She had some wonderful nurses that loved and cared for her. Mom didn't make her 92nd birthday by one week.
She will always be loved and forever missed by her family.
