Obituary of Robert Douglas PURDY
Robert Douglas Purdy of Calgary, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the age of 77 years quietly in hospital.
Bob was born in Calgary to Catherine Rankine Purdy, nee Sommerville and Stanley Robert Purdy. He had two sisters, Cheryl (Jack) Taunton, and Marilyn Ladner.
Bob was blessed with many children, Shelley Purdy, Shannon Evans, Kelly Ann Purdy (Eric), Alexis (Trevor) Templeton, Rob (Chrissy) Purdy; along with numerous grandchildren.
During his long life, he worked in the oil and gas industries up until his retirement, working on seismic, as an accountant, and as a Landman, among other jobs. He worked for PanCanadian, Husky, Charter Land Services, and for the City of Medicine Hat.
Bob also served in the Canadian military as a Captain in the King’s Own Calgary Regiment, something he was very proud of. His love for the military continued when he retired and started volunteering at the Military Museum in Calgary, which he enjoyed deeply.
Nothing made Bob happier than getting out into nature, whether he was going fishing, taking a hike, or a drive in Kananaskis or the Coulees near Medicine Hat. He enjoyed taking photos in the prairies and in Banff.
