So very sorry for the loss of dear Joan. What an amazing woman she was. I feel blessed to have known her and to have been the recipient of her generosity (through Augusta and Perri Beth Irvings). It was always a treat when she visited New York. Sincere condolences.

So sorry to hear of Joan's passing. We were clients of hers in the early 90s and she helped us tremendously with two family members dealing with mental issues. We were referred to her by a course on schizophrenia we had taken at Foothills Hospital and at a time when we were feeling frustrated, sad, angry and hopeless, we went to her for legal advice. We found her to be kind, patient, caring and extremely knowledgeable and whatever she said to do, we did it and if she said she would call us back, she did! The world has lost a wonderful lawyer but more importantly a wonderful person and we feel so blessed to have been in her presence, if only for a brief moment or two. Our condolences on the loss of your lovely Joan. We will never forget her kindness and expertise in our time of need. .RIP dear Joan

Joan was a wonderful person for all of the Kirwan family to know We have memories of her particularly around outdoor hockey at the Varsity Community Centre in the days before indoor rinks were available for every game -she brought the boys hot drinks to that cold skate shack all season long. I am sadden to learn or Joan's passing. Even though Joan and I never met face to face, I found Joan to be remarkably generous with her time and guidance to me when I was a young lawyer over the phone during various files we had together. I am certain that her legacy of teaching and wisdom lives on in many of us; we and the world are better for her presence in our lives.

Our sincerest condolences to the Metz family on the loss of this extraordinary woman. She will be forever remembered for her kind, gentle and compassionate nature. I loved nothing more than standing and chatting with her while her beloved dog stood (sometimes in a wagon) patiently waiting for us to finish. The world has lost a very special person but her legacy surely lives on in her children and grandchildren. RIP Joan!
