Louise, Marlene, Carol and Nancy, I will remember visiting often as a child and not quite knowing if there was a joke around the corner or prank that was being played. What fun and spontaneous times! Very enjoyable if you weren't the one being pranked for sure! What a great commitment to you girls and you Louise as a Dad, Friend, Support System, Life Mate, Soccer Coach, Father and one to always make you smile! Love and support goes out to your family. Jim, or to me as a kid, Mr. Campbell - will be missed and loved so much! The first time I met Mr. Campbell was when he would jog around the park out back of our house - "who is that fit fellow", people would say! (In envy, I am sure!) He will be keeping them on their toes in heaven and wearing some jogging shoes with wings - just lightly running around the clouds in Heaven. Keeping all of those up there on their toes... having some humor up there too! hugs and love goes out to all of the family, Beth Castle

A fond farewell to Jim. Knowing you has been an honour. Watching Social Studies educators like my dad and you inspire multiple generations led me down the same path. As well, the family gatherings at conferences in Phoenix, or Calgary, or Red Deer taught me the importance of work and play. Who knew we could have that much fun in Arizona restaurants and not get kicked out. Louise and family, my sincerest condolences for your loss. I know that you won't be short of fantastic and humorous memories.

I am saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I will remember Jim's unwavering dedication to teaching and learning, his attention to a vision of education which placed students firmly at the center of all we do as educators. Jim understood the pivotal role classroom teachers play in this work. Jim inspired, challenged, motivated, critiqued and praised. He held us all to a standard few could achieve but encouraged us all to work toward. I became a better teacher because of Jim.

We always enjoyed any interaction with Jim. There was always a twinkle and an expectation of jocular engagement. Jim was a Master teacher, a leader for whom positive involvement with others was uppermost. Yet his focus on important outcomes when required resulted in proactive results. Even though he was coping with cancer he remained positive and strong. Those who knew Jim personally will miss this wonderful man and will relish the effect on their own lives. Our condolences to Louise and family. Thanks for sharing. Al Snider/ Colleen Grover (Calgary)

To Louise, Marlene, Carol, Nancy and families. Our sincere sympathy for you and just want to wish you our heart-felt well wishes. We are so sorry to hear of your loss and want you to know that our prayers are with you. We will miss Coach Campbell - "Crazy Campbell" because he had such a quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. The world is missing one heck of a soccer coach which we had a chance of having a lot of great games with Jim encouraging us from the sidelines and telling us not to give up. He sure made soccer a lot of fun! I know my family embraces the time we spent with all your family in the Triwood community and on soccer road trips. Big hugs, Dead End

Dear Louise and family. I first met Jim in the late '70's when,as a young Social Studies teacher at Louis Riel I needed an intervention. Fortunately for me this was an enlightened era when the CBE included a wealth of specialists in English and Social Studies. Jim came to my rescue and with his encouragement I stayed with the program for almost 30 years. Jim continued to inspire me as he Matured and took up various extra curricular activities including, to my great delight, SALSA dancing. Quel surprise! Gusto and vigour are words I would use to describe his attitude to life. It was my pleasure and honour to know your husband and father. Kathy Cusack Windsor, Ontario

To Jim's family, I am sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I have a special place for him in my memories. I met Jim when I was still a student teacher. Shortly afterwards, he called me and suggested I apply with a school in Calgary. His recommendation allowed me to get my first permanent teaching position. That led to 30 years of teaching before I retired from the CBE. I'd like to extend my sympathies to his daughter Carol and son-in-law Les. We (myself, my wife Sharon, and daughter Michelle) were fortunate to know them in the world of Ringette, which just goes to show it's a small world. And Jim occupied a big part of it.

I had "Mr. Campbell" as a Social Studies teacher when I went to Bowness Senior High. Lucky was the student who had him as a teacher. He had a way of letting every single student think that he/she was the center of his attention. I later became a teacher and would run into him at various educational functions. He was always "Mr. Campbell" to me and even now in my retirement I think of him as "Mr. Campbell". What a gem and what an amazing model for a struggling mixed up kid from Bowness.

Jim made me smile and laugh whenever he and Louise led us on a Monday morning group walk and especially around Valentine's Day when this wonderful couple asked us to wear our "hearts on our sleeve" I marvelled at the amount of fun we had in Jim's company and at the many talents he not only possessed but shared with all of us. Dear Louise and Family, Sincerest condolences. As my cooperating teacher at SWC in 1976,I could not have run into a more caring and influential character. Condolences to all of the Campbell Girls and the extended family. Uncle Jim was one of the most interesting people I have ever met. The keen wit and his positive view of the world along with his penchant for fun and frivolity stand out as paramount fixtures on how he inspired me to live life fully, joyfully. When I was first starting out in my career, he also literally gave me the shirts err suits off his back; along with some sage wisdom as to how to take care of both the clothes as well as myself in a business setting. We all will love him forever.

Dear Louise and Family, I am so sorry to be missing the Celebration! I think our history began when Marlene married "our neighbor's son"... I am especially happy to have Jim's trilogy. You have all been very brave throughout this ordeal but no more than Jim himself. Much Aloha!
