Obituary of Ronald HOWARD

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Howard, loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his son Michael, daughter Melissa (Steve), grandsons Matthew, Joshua and Ryan as well as his sister Gayle (Willy). Ron grew up in Burnaby where he learned to play lacrosse, which became a life long passion. He moved to Prince George as a young man. He was married and both his children were born there. It wasn’t long before he moved to Calgary and then Strathmore where he raised his children and was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Kinsmen and coached a local softball team. Ron was also one of the first plumbers in Strathmore and was the owner of Howard and Son Plumbing and Heating for several years. Once his children were grown he moved to Calgary where he dabbled in jewelry and the stock market. It was always a dream of Ron’s to live in Costa Rica and he made that dream come true by packing up everything and moving to Jaco Beach. Unfortunately it was here that he began to encounter health problems and had to return to Calgary. His last years were spent valiantly fighting diabetes and vascular dementia. After a long fight he died peacefully after having said goodbye to his children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00pm in the Empress Lounge of Vertigo Theatre at the base of the Calgary Tower (115 - 9th Ave SE Calgary). Parking is available at the Tower Centre Parkade. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or The Canadian Alzheimer's Foundation. We would like to thank Sarcee Carewest for taking care of Ron. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com
