Obituary of Geertruida BUWALDA

The Lord, in His infinite wisdom, called Trudy Buwalda to be with Him in glory early Wednesday morning, January 15, 2014 at the age of 94. Born in Hornhuizen, Holland, Trudy immigrated to Calgary from the Netherlands in 1954 with her husband and five children. She was diligent in maintaining a loving home for her family, quietly providing for their daily needs and nurturing them through her strong faith in the Lord. Although Trudy suffered from failing memory for the past few years, she quietly endured this frailty and now has been freed from this world’s sorrows and has gone to be with her heavenly Father. She is survived by her children, Anko (Tina) Buwalda of Rimbey, Alberta, Liz (Herb) Verkerk, Meina (Bill ) Konynenbelt, Corrie Buwalda and Jenny Buwalda, all of Calgary. Also mourning her passing are nine grandchildren and their spouses and 23 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sister Annie (Kor) Vander Molen in the Netherlands and by a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law in Canada . She was predeceased by her husband Eelke in 2008. A family Graveside Service will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 18, 2014, followed by a Celebration of her Life at 1:00 pm in the Bethel United Reformed Church, 730 – 101st St. SW with Rev.
