Obituary of Donald Allan Wyman
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don on September 7, 2018 in Calgary. Don was born in Calgary on December 23, 1932 and raised in Carstairs until the death of his father Robert, in 1941.
Don and his mother Freda moved to Calgary and resided with Don’s paternal grandmother. Freda and Don eventually moved into their own home on 12th Ave NE. This is where Don met the love of his life Doris when she moved into the basement suite next door. They eventually married and built a house on 26th Ave NE in which he resided until his death. During this time, they had a child Cathy-Anne whom married her husband Jim and they had three daughters. Don was affectionately known as “Papa” to them and he was extremely proud of his three grandchildren and their numerous accomplishments over the years and he will be deeply missed by them.
Don had many hobbies over the years. He loved to garden, was an avid reader and was an amateur historian, telling his grandchildren stories of how Calgary had changed over the years.
Don will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. Don is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cathy-Anne and Jim Horne, grandchildren Kristin, Brianne and Jamie, sister in laws Joyce Roth and Beth Massie as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Don was predeceased by his parents Robert and Freda and his wife Doris.
A Memorial Service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
