Obituary of Mary Patricia DAM

Mary beloved wife of Poul Dam of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the age of 75 years.

Born February 18, 1943, outside of London, England, Patricia was the eldest daughter of Richard and Mary Scott.  After the war the family moved to Toronto, and Patricia became the adored older sister to Pauline, Rhonda and Jacqueline.

Patricia married Paul Dam and they remained devoted for 54 years, until the day of her passing.  Patricia was a fiercely loving mother to Michelle (Ken Braden), Cassandra (Brian Halsey) and Tremayne (Andrea).

Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life:  Falon, Lance, Sophia, Xander and Victoria.  Her great grandchildren Charlotte, Colby and Mia were much loved.

An active advocate for social justice and visual arts for many decades, Patricia’s home and heart were open and generous to all.  She participated in her community through organized action and through personal generosity.  Always grateful for the love and kindness of the people around her, Patricia radiated these back hundred fold.

Patricia will be sadly missed by her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, surviving sister Rhonda, nieces, nephews and the many friends, neighbours, and colleagues she had gathered in 75 years during her life in Ontario, and later in Calgary.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, September 18 at 2:30 p.m.

A reception will follow at the Church Hall.
