Obituary of Richard Stewart Johnston
Richard Johnston beloved husband of Susan Johnston of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the age of 75 years.
Richard was born and raised in Calgary, taking his schooling at Western Canada High School and then taking up a trade as a butcher. He worked many years for Calgary Co-op as a meat department manager before rounding out his working years as an inspector for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
He and Susan were married 52 years, living in the same home in Lakeview for almost all that time. He loved his time off and over the years found delight in being near the water in Riondel on Kootenay Lake, and more recently on Gabriola Island.
Richard is survived by his wife Susan; his son, Stephen; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Craig Erfle; grandchildren, Zachary and Cassidy Poje; sister, Sheila Johnston and mother-in-law, Nan.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Stewart Johnston.
A Celebration of Life will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
