Lorraine found peace in the quiet moments. Her steps softened as she learned to listen to the birds and opened her home to a plethora of cats and dogs. She offered a sanctuary for life, love, and laughter to her family and provided all of her energy to the souls around her. Keen for adventure, she jumped at any opportunity to explore the world. At the age of fifty she rode her ten speed bicycle from Edmonton to Seattle and at the age of sixty-one she hiked the seventy five kilometer West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. Most impressively, she never stopped giving to the most vulnerable. She carried on cooking timeless meals and nurturing the creatures that instinctually flocked to her. Missy, her black lab, came to love the long summer days running in the fields of Castor, and the cold winter nights cuddling with her mum on a single bed. Farm cats lived in her garage and skunks made home under her house. She spent her pension money feeding the hungry mouths of all of these animals, all the while tending to a garden full of vegetables and flowers. Each morning, she strolled her property, watching the birds and smelling the flowers. She breathed the air and acknowledged its gift. Baba loved her life when it was stripped down to what really mattered.

My deepest sympathy to the families of Lorraine. Really enjoyed the years we worked together and the visits we had after Lorraine retired. Lorraine will be missed.
