Obituary of Ingemar Peter JOHANSEN

Peter passed away peacefully (arriving in Valhalla) on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

He arrived in Canada mid-1940’s coming out west to work for a short time on a ranch in Milk River, AB. After crop-dusting for a few years, he then went to Banff working for the Parks Department on the Ski Patrol and as a ski instructor. Using his skiing, hiking and climbing skills, he backpacked material into the mountains with surveyors (Canada Parks Department) while working on the Trans Canada Highway into British Columbia, finishing his working career at the Foothills Hospital for over twenty years as a Nursing Orderly.  Peter enjoyed the great outdoors, skiing, cycling, hiking, water sports and especially sitting around the campfire at the family cottage in Rushmere on Lake Windermere. Peter also had a dry sense of humor which could surprise many of us on occasions.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Sandra; children, John (Barb) Frayne, Molly Smith, Kim (Rick) Holyk, Don (Tammy) Frayne, along with his thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Dougie (Joan) McPherson and Rowly (Rita) McPherson.

He was predeceased by grandson Michael Frayne and great-grandson Bryce Henke.

A Private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of their choice.

“A Limb has fallen from my Family Tree, I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.” Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I have lived while I was Strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all how truly I was blessed. I miss you dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes and we’re together once again.”
