Obituary of Gordon Eugene McGRATH

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Gordon McGrath, beloved partner of Suzanne Baptie of Calgary, AB.    Gordon passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.

Gordon’s quest for a fulfilled life brought him from British Columbia to the far Arctic where he began his life long career in the oil patch.  Gord’s career armed him with many stories to tell, he always had time to share a seismic memory, or give his tenacious opinion on the political climate.  The oil patch was his life and he was blessed to have made many life-long friends.    He travelled many miles, cut many lines, shot many holes.   His passion was his work, but his true hobby was golf and spending as much time as they could traveling in their trailer and attending many group golf tournaments with friends.  Gordon was also an accomplished wood worker and spent many hours perfecting his hobby as well as enthusiastically watching the Calgary Flames.  He will be dearly missed.

Gordon is survived by his partner for life, Suzanne Baptie, father in law, Arthur Baptie, brother Alan McGrath, his wife Terry, sister Joyce Alisharan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gordon was predeceased by his father Eugene, mother Pat and brother- in- law Steve Alisharan.

No formal ceremony will be held as per Gord’s wishes. However, a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Gord’s life will be held at his favorite place, River Spirit Golf Club, later in the spring.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: 1 (866) 412-4222.  www.albertacancer.ca/memorial.
